As we head into the holiday season, we know lots of you will be planning portrait sessions with your fave photographer, or rigging up the camera for the annual family Christmas pic - why not show all your less fortunate out-of-state loved ones what they're missing here in Florida? Our Fave Melanie Gabrielle captured this absolutely adorable couple and their Christmas on the Beach sesh on film, and we just couldn't resist. Mel is also sharing a few tips to help you pull it off on your own!
From Melanie: As far as outfit choices, you'll want to make sure the color palette meshes well with each other as well as "fits" with the environment you're shooting in! I also recommend staying away from colors that are too bright because they tend to reflect on your skin and change the color of your natural complexion.
Make sure that your photos reflect YOU as a couple! If your other half plays guitar, have him bring it along and play something for you! Do you like to cook or bake together, and have a pretty kitchen? Find a fun recipe and make something yummy together!
This couple wanted snuggly, wintery photos, but, since they live in Florida, there isn't a whole lot of "winter" scenery. So, they decided to have some fun with it and we styled a "Christmas in Florida" engagement session with the cutest little Christmas tree, hot cocoa, and carols on his guitar! How adorable is that?!
Melanie also suggests staying away from props for props sake (and we agree with that 100%), but adding meaningful items that tell your story in an authentic way can really help set the scene and add interest to your shoot.
So, have fun with it! And stay warm and snuggly, y'all.
