What do you get when a classic and elegant couple showcases their love for their alma mater? This beautiful Fort Lauderdale wedding - shown off so perfectly by Captured Photography by Jenny.
Brigid and Brandon met during their senior year at Notre Dame playing intramural basketball. Their love of sports and their adventurous spirits brought them together, and their values and life priorities made them a great match. Says Brigid, I think we are a great match because we share the same interests and values in life. Our relationship, our families, our faith, and Notre Dame football ;) are all very important priorities. We started dating one week before college graduation and dated long distance for three years. So honesty, trust, respect, and communication were and still are very key to our relationship's success. People often tell us that we are one of those couples that "just fit."
Brigid and Brandon surprised their parents by having them renew their vows during the ceremony. That special moment made for one destined-to-be-an-heirloom photo!
The couple's creative guestbook - a world atlas - was a happy last-minute emergency. Says Brigid: Our photo guestbook never arrived, so the day before the wedding I went to Barnes and Noble and bought a World Atlas to use as the guestbook. As I mentioned, Brandon and I love to travel. That night my Maid of Honor wrote out and framed the sign asking guests to sign their names at their favorite vacation spot.
Brandon is a dentist, so as their favors the couple made a donation to Operation Smile that funded two children's cleft palate surgeries. Guests were gifted with bags of truffles and an explanation of the donation through Truffles for a Cause.
When it came to planning their wedding, the two focused on making sure they and their guests had a great time, and designing a day that reflected them as a couple. As more classic and traditional people, they focused on beauty and elegance; and as a girl who had dreamed of her wedding all her life, Brigid incorporated luxe details like high centerpieces, chiavari chairs, dramatic lighting, and tons of crystal and sparkle.
They also worked in their love of Notre Dame... while still keeping it classy. From Brigid: Both of our dads and all of our siblings also went / go to Notre Dame, and our extended family are all ND fans. The golden helmet is such an iconic and stunning representation of ND. All we had to do was order smaller versions and stick numbers on each helmet for our tables. They were a big hit and none were left at the end of the wedding. I also had a bridesmaid gift me the ND garter, which doubled as my something blue. Finally, my parents surprised us with a bagpiper to escort guests from the cocktail hour to the ballroom, which was great because it was an easy way to get the group moving and also kept the wedding festivities continuing through the walk. A bagpiper is an Irish tradition that was often present on the ND campus and the bagpiper surprised us by learning to play the fight song.
Brigid also wanted to thank and recommend her vendors, who gave her and Brandon the "perfect" day: I am so glad we had Jenny and Shelly capture this special day because I have pictures I will love to look back on. Their pictures made me believe the wedding was actually as beautiful, if not more beautiful, then I imagined it. Michael Berry at Hyatt Pier 66 really went above and beyond to make our day special. He was amazing to work with, and I always left our meeting with a huge smile, as I knew he would orchestrate a wedding more perfect than I could even imagine. Ralph Stivali at Party Deco Inc. perfectly portrayed the elegance and beauty of the wedding through his flowers. He was a blessing to work with, as he worked hard to understand my vision and to ensure the flowers were a perfect reflection. Jonathan Cruz, PSAV Presentation Services, totally transformed the ballroom.
Randy Schull at Robert Allen Salon went above and beyond. Not only was my hair and everyone else's absolutely perfect, but he transformed Robert Allen Salon for our wedding party. It was amazing, so special, and I loved how excited Randy and Robert Allen Salon was for the day. Makeup artist Erica Del Valle (Color You Beautiful) - I loved my make-up. It was light and natural and yet beautiful.
Susie Scrumptious [did the cake]. We gave her a picture from a magazine, which had probably been airbrushed or painted, and she nailed it! The band was AMAZING - The Headliners. People danced the entire night! And we heard so many compliments about the band.
Planning the wedding from Montana, I was blessed with the help of these people and was so lucky to be working with people I could really trust to get the job done and to do it beautifully.
From a vendor's point of view, we couldn't hope for a better review than that! I can't stress how important it is - no matter the style, budget, or location of your wedding - to hire vendors you trust, are comfortable with, and understand your vision. Brigid and Brandon did just that, and wound up with the day of their dreams. Congrats, you two!!
