Inspired by the party scene in Meet Joe Black, Vivian and Scott returned to Sanibel, the place he proposed - and one of their favorite places on earth - for their beachside wedding soirée. Casa Ybel brought their vision to life, which was captured to perfection by Concept Photography; so, of course, their portraits are simply epic.
Vivian, a product manager, and Scott, an account manager, were introduced at a party back in December of 2001. They wound up at University of Pittsburgh together, and then both went back to school for their MBAs while saving to build their dream home. As Vivian tells us, these experiences built a solid foundation for their relationship and made them fall more and more in love with each other: "Scott has the best heart. He makes me a better person. He's pretty good looking too!"
And according to Scott: "Vivian was the most beautiful girl I ever met, inside and out. I would never be where I am today without her. We have such a mutual love and respect for each other. Our top priority is making each other laugh!"
They live in Pittsburgh, but fell in love with the Sanibel while vacationing with Vivian's parents, who live in the area. Ten years after the two met, Scott proposed on Bowman's Beach on Sanibel Island; it was clearly the perfect choice for the destination wedding.
“The most memorable part of the wedding day for both of us was our ceremony. We had dreamed about it for so long and simply couldn't believe the moment had finally arrived. The beach, our feelings, and our guests' presence and love were simply unbelievable. ”
From Vivian: We had done some extensive online research after we decided to get married on Sanibel or Captiva Island. We decided to stop by Casa Ybel while we were on a Labor Day vacation. We were immediately sold – it's a truly an amazing place to get married. We absolutely loved the beach for the ceremony and the lawn for an outside tented reception. It is such a classy, elegant venue on the beach.
Concept Photography's bride and groom portraits get me. every. time. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to choose, y'all! Simply stunning.
When it came to design and atmosphere, Vivian and Scott were inspired by the over-the-top beachside birthday party in Meet Joe Black: "We loved it – it was cool, classy, and outside on the water." They set to replicate that look for their wedding day, by bringing out the beauty of the island while adding a bit of vintage flair. Their favorite part? Being outside for the entire ceremony and reception.
Their one DIY project was the set of bride and groom chair back signs. Says Vivian: "This one attempt at creativity made us realize that it's better to leave everything to the professionals!"
"Donut mind if I do"? Yea, I just wouldn't be able to resist the cuteness. Or the donuts.
Don't you wish you were there, right now? Congratulations, you two!
