We don't feature many day-after sessions, but this pretty set of portraits by Lux et Amor is worth the detour. Jenny and Alex have such a sweet story behind their romance, and they look so at home (and so happily in love!) on the gorgeous Pensacola Beach sands... what's more Floridian than that?
Jenny and Alex met at a ministry in Missouri, after hearing great things about each other from those they worked with. They had been working under the same director, but in different facilities, and Alex eventually asked their director for permission to start talking to Jenny (which she thought was "very sweet", of course!). The director and his wife arranged a surprise by inviting them both to dinner. Says Jenny, "It might sound super cheesy but the moment my eyes met his I felt something in my heart."
Jennifer's heart was set soon after they met: "I knew Alex was the man God wanted me to marry the first time he took time to pray with me. Alex is my best friend, lover and leader. He is strong and someone I can trust."
Alex was so in love, and so eager to make it official, that he just couldn't wait to ask her to be wife; he popped the question on the phone while the two were on opposite sides of the country. Jenny was so surprised that she had to ask "Are you serious?!" a few times... but she said yes, of course! He gave her the ring later, while visiting his family in Kentucky for Christmas; then they headed to Florida in January to start bible school together.
The two were so smitten which each other that a normal wedding planning process just wasn't in the cards. From Jenny: It was great getting to go on dates, going to church and school together. We had been planning a wedding in California for June, but getting to spend so much time together we really wanted to just get married. We prayed about it and dreamed about it but it didn't really seem possible seeing we both had roommates and he couldn't just kick his out his roommate and I didn't want to leave mine empty handed. But we started praying that God might make a way.
And He did! We got married on a Monday night after 10pm by our assistant pastor at our church with 12 friends. Quite spontaneous. I was so nervous my knees were literally knocking! But it was great! We went out to dinner with our friends afterwards. Over the weekend we stayed on the beach in a grand hotel and pretended money was no issue. It was so fun. We collected shells together, went out to nice restaurants, etc.
We're calling it a "day after", but this session really happened about a month after these two tied the knot. When the wedding dust had settled, Jenny asked Alex what he thought about taking some wedding pictures on the beach - and he was in! After looking online, Jenny fell in love with Jessica of Lux et Amor's photos: "They had the dreamy look I was looking for. They captured people's emotions and I liked that. Something real. Not forced. So I booked her earliest date."
And off the beach they went! Jenny grabbed a friend, got her hair and makeup done, and (finally) slipped into her gown. "I was so excited for Alex to see me in my dress because he had never gotten to see me in it. We had so much fun together doing all sorts of poses and sneaking kisses in between pictures."
It was absolutely gorgeous that day! It seemed God was just smiling on us. It was just what I wanted for us: pictures we could have all our lives.
