If y'all haven't yet heard, Desi has some new digs! She and her husband just bought their first home, this lil' piece of cuteness in Lake Worth, less than a mile south of me (total bonus). Design inspiration and planning is in full swing - isn't that the best part?! - and I'm having tons of vicarious fun stalking her pins, thrifting and vintage-hunting, and dreaming up ideas with her.

And, can we talk about the blue door?! She bought it that way, and I think it was just destiny. We're happy to be bringing more blue doors to Lake Worth, one house at a time.
The house is light, bright, fully redone outside and in... and full of big blank walls, like this one above her sofa. It's just screaming for a nice big piece of art, don't you think? Desiree and I have both been on a quest to fill our homes with beautiful things, and I think graduating from posters and prints to a few pieces of quality original art definitely fits the bill. Luckily, we found an awesome new app that helped the two of us (pretty much art amateurs) find pieces that fit perfectly. It's called Vango, and it's amazing.
The idea is pretty simple: Grab your iPad or iPhone, load up the app (we found it in the app store using their old name, "Art Two 50"), and snap a picture of the room you want to fill with art. The photo of your room appears in the app, and you choose the right size of art for the spot by seeing how each looks - no need to just guess (and hope you're right).
The app presents you with beautiful pieces of art, one after another, right there on your wall - just swipe through the collection, zoom in for details, and get more info on the artists; Desi was looking for Florida-based painters, and she found a talented bunch of locals. As you mark your favorites, the app learns what you like and starts showing you a selection tailored to your tastes. And the best thing is the pricing: $100, $250 or $500. Totally doable, no surprises, and honestly SO affordable for high-quality original art! We were hooked.
And when you find something you like, you can quickly get an opinion from your Facebook fam. Desi loved this one, 'Bridge Road' by Natalie, an artist in Hobe Sound. What do y'all think?
Ok, we just couldn't resist showing y'all this one, too. I mean... bright happy flamingo perfection!
Their brand new iPhone app was super easy to use, too - handy for snapping a sneaky-quick pic at a friend or family member's house so that you can buy them the most amazing gift. An original piece of art would be the perfect wedding gift for newlyweds with a new home, don't you think? And if, like moi, you're more of a Android person, you can still browse and buy their art collection on Pinterest.
Of course, I got a little addicted and totally fell in love with a piece that just had to get on my wall. So - it did. It's called Color Garden, it looks incredible in my living room, and it's by new favorite artist, Hilary Winfield. You can check out more of her gorgeous work in the Vango app (or right here).
