Every detail in this gorgeous day, captured by Stephanie A. Smith, made our hearts sing. From the beautiful cream-colored dresses that Beth's bridesmaids chose, to her stunning beaded top and all the fragrant herbs tucked throughout, every detail was an ode to the couple and the venue they fell in love with - at first sight!
Beth and Craig tied the knot in Sarasota at the stunning Powel Crosley Estate. They discovered the venue on Sarasota Bay on a bike ride together and were, as Beth tells us, "in awe. The colors are earthy with detailed mantles, archways, tile work and pocket doors. We knew it'd be the perfect setting for our day."
The two met at Bentley College, near Boston; he was her freshman year dorm resident advisor. They started out as friends, and bonded over their love of adventure - exploring the area's towns, lakes and parks. After completing their master's degrees, they chased the warm weather down to Florida's west coast, working together at the same digital advertising agency. A transfer has since sent them to a much farther west coast - San Francisco!
If this doesn't sell you on letting the gals pick their own dresses, I'm not sure what will! I'm in love with Beth's maids' choices, all in that gorgeous creamy hue.
Isn't Beth's top stunning? I loved the story of how she chose it: I always dreamed of a gown with an intricate top – not strapless. Somehow, I ended up with a strapless gown, which I loved (it had pockets) – but felt like I was missing something. I found the top to my dress in a totally separate store – actually tried it on like a jacket at first until the salesperson told me you put it on like a smock and button up the back. I had no idea if it'd fit into my dress but I brought it to my seamstress and it was perfect. It unsnapped too!
Beth tells us that her emotions were overflowing when she first saw her dad, before the ceremony; he returned the favor during their first dance, with tears throughout.
Beth and Craig are both Sound of Music lovers (which wins big points in my book!); Beth was escorted down the aisle by her father to an acoustic guitar version of the soundtrack's wedding processional.
They had planned on having their uncle bring the rings up during the ceremony, with his "hands blessing", but they had forgotten to give them to him and left them in the bridal suite! Says Beth, "I noticed about a minute into the ceremony and told Craig who passed the word down the line of groomsmen to the planner, who went to my Dad and Stepmom, who immediately took off their rings for Uncle Peter to bring up. So we got married, with their rings, 'twas hilarious."
The couple complimented the estate's earthy hues and architectural features with a natural color palette of ivory, cream and brown, accented with herbs (rosemary, thyme and sage) and rustic touches. The table numbers were made from Beth's grandmother's button collection.
How adorable is this 'guest book' idea? Beth and Craig had guests sign cornhole boards (while tossing monogrammed bean bags, of course!).
Congratulations, Craig and Beth! Best of luck in your new adventures in fabulous San Fran.
