One of our most favorite vendor guide members, Robert Rios, sent us this engagement session and we couldn't wait to to share it with you. A stunning couple, a gorgeous ocean side location, and beautiful, light-filled photos... it's a perfect Monday morning treat!
"'If you go to Texas and meet a boy there, you will never come back...'
"Nikki never thought these words would actually be a prophecy of her future therefore never gave it much thought. Enter Aaron a little while after her move and everything changed. Mom was right, Nikki left Florida met Aaron and now they are seeking a new future together that can take them anywhere. Next year they will start this new journey together and I am really looking forward to being there capturing it for them."
This beautiful couple met in 2009 at Baylor University in Texas; Aaron was a baseball player and Nikki was a cheerleader, and they were introduced through mutual athletic friends. Nikki is now finishing up her last year at Baylor, and Aaron is playing minor league baseball for the L.A. Dodgers... and they'll be married at the lovely Hillsboro Club next November. Says Nikki, "It's the perfect place for a wedding and I get the best of both worlds - I'll have the ocean view without sticky hair or sand between my toes!"
Aaron proposed this past June when Nikki came to visit him in Arizona, just after her birthday. He planned a luxurious evening at the Arizona Biltmore - dinner and champagne by the fire, a nighttime walk around the resort, and sparkling wine on a balcony overlooking the beautiful grounds... and I'll let Nikki tell the story from here:
"I stepped in for a minute to powder my nose, and when I came back the table on the balcony was covered in flowers, and on it was a message in a bottle! Totally surprised, I said, "What is all of this!" and he replied, "I don't know, someone just put it here!" Of course I ignored that and started to open the bottle. Aaron stood up and was hovering over me as I was trying to peel off the tape of the letter. I did note that he seemed pretty anxious, but I was more interested about what the message read. It was a poem. A beautiful love poem that he wrote, and he asked me to read it aloud.
"I began to read it, and it was so sweet and charming. Half way through the mushy poem I thought to myself, "ok, this is NO birthday card!!" I continue to read as he starts to turn away; I started feeling the butterflies and couldn't really comprehend the words at this point - what was happening??! Finally the last line of the poem read, "one big YES is all you have to say..." and my heart was speeding so fast I couldn't breathe.
"Then, the man of my dreams got on a knee... I can not even tell you exactly what he said because I kept thinking about how surreal the moment was. I covered my mouth with my hands, still in shock, then held his face and said "yes, of course!!" and he picked me up and I kissed him all over! After a few minutes he put me down and shocked me again as he put the most stunning ring on my finger. "
Next November, Robert will be there with Nikki and Aaron (and the 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen they've asked to join them!) to capture their special day... we can't wait to see how it turns out! Best of luck to you guys, and thanks so much for letting us share your beautiful story.
