Inspiration: Preppy Florida Elopement

on by in Weddings & Such

As most of you know, I moved to London back in September. Right before I moved from Florida I started envisioning my Beau and I riding away on our beach cruisers, eloping in our Fort Lauderdale neighborhood, and ending with a sweet romantic picnic afterwards.

Ok, so it may not have played out that way, {getting engaged a few weeks later was quite a nice alternative}, but I was still so in love with the idea! I had envisioned just the two of us, by the water, quiet afternoon and so fun riding around our neighborhood as newlyweds! When I asked Michelle March if she wanted to put together a little last minute shoot, right down the street from my house, I was lucky that she loved the idea! Perfect timing, right as my house is being packed up to move abroad, right? Oh well, I was dying to put together this vision I had and share it with our readers, an inspiration for a sweet preppy elopement. I could not stop thinking of striped grosgrain ribbons, preppy kelly green and pink, the couple riding on beach cruisers, an adorable wedding picnic and a cake for two was dancing in my head and I managed to put it all together right before I left. I think the idea of having an intimate picnic as newlyweds is lovely!

How sweet is the bride in her tea length dress and ponytail. A side ponytail tied with a ribbon was a bit preppy and would be easy to create at home if you decide to just have the two of you. Add a little bright lipstick and you are ready to go and ride away with your groom!

If you are going to have a picnic as newlyweds, it needs to be special, champagne and a wedding cake for two included of course!

Eloping doesn't mean you can't send out beautiful announcements to let everyone know you are now Mr. & Mrs.! We had Llorente Designs create this paper suite that I thought was perfect for the day! "The sun in our faces and blue in the sky. You were in our hearts, if not in our eyes."

I was delighted to be able to share this extra treat with you, Michael Burgos Films was there to capture the newlyweds riding away to their home! Watching this film made think how fun it would be to get married in Sunny Florida and also made me miss our little place in Rio Vista Fort Lauderdale just a bit. Brides-to-be getting married in the lovely state of Florida, if I were you I would certainly hop on a bike and have some images of you and your Mr., it is adorable!
