TOP TREND OF THE MOMENT:
You know what surprises me right now is that long, rectangular tables are really popular. Anything with 90 degree angles arranged in rows and other geometric patterns is huge.
I've seen an increase in table runners, which isn't something you're going to find on a round table. There is a lot of mixing with the square shapes of the tables and the round shapes of chargers and plates. However, to compliment the runners we've been using square or angular centerpieces. I have to say that the runners on the tables can really make everything look FABULOUS!
YOUR FAVORITE CREATIVE TOUCH:
I think that people sometimes think that they have to go big or go home with the creativity. It's not so. I have always found that it's the little details that truly make the difference.
I absolutely love putting a single flower on every napkin, or in the corner of every menu. It doesn't matter what the flower is; an orchid, a rose, a lily bloom. When you bring the flowers out on the table, it's truly fabulous. Then something amazing starts to happen: The guests pick them up and start to wear them. They put them in pockets, in their hair or behind their ears. Everyone loves it! The best thing is that it doesn't take a great deal of money to do it at all. It's a nice touch that many don’t think about but it's so fabulous and fun.
THE SPLURGE YOU'RE LOVING MOST RIGHT NOW:
Believe it or not but the wedding ceremony is the big splurge right now. It may sound strange to think that, but it's true. With the tough economy people really started to overlook the ceremony and concentrate on the reception. People are beginning to splurge on the ceremony again.
I have had numerous brides doing amazing things with their ceremony Chuppahs. The ceremony is the first impression that your guests are going to have of your wedding day. I recently created a beautiful, asymmetrical floral design for a chuppah for a bride. It had gorgeous, sweeping flowers that started in the front and angled towards the back. It looked like the bride and groom were standing at the threshold of a dream!
The other splurge I'm seeing more of is furniture. Lounges for the sweetheart area or a high backed chair for the bride and groom are everywhere. Things like that are nice and really bring the wedding to the next level!
