Kristin and Chad met on the golf course, bonding over their mutual roots in New Smyrna Beach. Seven years of dating, traveling the world, boating and enjoying a coastal lifestyle together culminated in an exchange of vows on the bow of a sport fishing boat docked at New Smyrna Marina. Our Fave Concept Photography captured every meaningful and beautiful moment of this dockside nautical wedding day.
How great are these groomsman gifts? Definitely a steal-worthy idea, guys!
The two first met back in 2006 at an insurance golf event they were attending for their jobs. Chad hit "a pretty impressive shot" on the 13th hole that caught Kristin's attention, and afterwards they struck up a conversation. He was surprised to learn that Kristin was from New Smyrna Beach, as he had been vacationing in New Smyrna his whole life and his parents owned a condo on the beach. From there, their common interests brought and kept them together through a seven year courtship, and to their wedding day this past October.
“ I think we both knew that our wedding was meant to be in New Smyrna Beach. This was the place that connected us from the very first day we met, the place that we have each grown up loving, and that one special place in the world we will always call 'home'.”
Finding a location in New Smyrna to wed was a challenge for these two, as venues on the water large enough for their party are limited. The newly built New Smyrna Marina & Outriggers came to their rescue; as Kristin tells us, "It was the absolute perfect place for us as it is a little piece of Key West right in NSB!"
The Right Hook, a 58' sport fisher docked at the marina that they were married on, was the couple's favorite element of the day. From the bride: "It was a group effort, with the groomsmen fishing on the Right Hook earlier in the week and our Groomsman/Officiant, Kenny, bringing the boat logistics together. I think it came as quite a shock to most of our guests when I climbed up on the boat wearing my wedding dress! We both have such a great love of boating and the water that we could not have imagined saying our vows in any other place."
Kristin tells us that being announced at the reception was one of their favorite moments: "It was so wonderful to see all the smiles and welcoming expressions on friends and family. We had the most beautiful sunset over the water which was the perfect backdrop."
The two used their "love of the water, boating, and New Smyrna Beach" as inspiration to create a day filled with personal, DIY details in a nautical and travel-inspired theme: their seating chart featured photos and table names of places they have visited together, and their own ropes, lanterns and pictures were used as decor throughout the reception.
