Boasting a selection of over 300 bottled beers and the most unpretentious atmosphere around, Beer Trade Co. could literally have been made just for someone like me. I was beyond thrilled when Laura shared that her restaurateur friend, Gene, had opened this new spot just off Delray's busy Atlantic Avenue. We grabbed our pal Todd and prepared for good times.

The digs are quite simple: an open air lounge out front, convenience-style store, plus a few tables to sit and chat. An outdoor beer garden in the back is in the works which sounds heavenly - after summer, of course. My favorite part is that Gator (oh, you didn't know my dog's name?) is welcome, too! Okay, who am I kidding: my favorite part is the beer and I'm getting to that...

You know that moment people describe where one turns a corner and like a scene from a movie, angels begin to sing and white doves fly towards the heavens? Well, when I stepped inside it was sort of like that. Except it was bluesy-rock on the radio and instead of birds it was hundreds of brews. Hundreds. Just staring at me.

Challenge accepted. I walked right up to the cooler and started perusing the selection. I first noticed lots of familiar names like Lagunitas, Blue Point, and New Haven. The freaking out began when I saw some specialty double and triple bomber bottles. We each picked one to try and grabbed a seat at a table complete with bottle openers, beer sampling how-to instructions, and board games. Hello, happy place.

It took about 3 sips into my IPA before I was back inside gazing at all the options. I pulled a few from Miami Brewing Co. and was stoked to see some I hadn't tried yet. Then I noticed several cans from Cigar City Brewing and, my local fave, Due South Brewing Co.. Naturally, I began pulling every Florida beer I could find. Just around a dozen to choose from which is quite possibly the most impressive display I've witnessed.

We expected nothing less than the best "bar food" from Gene and his kitchen team. Changing daily, the market priced grilled cheese sandwich is something everyone should splurge on while here. Ours was loaded with mac-n-cheese (yes, really!) and bacon. It happened and it was blissful.

When we were ready to leave, we grabbed our empties and headed to the checkout counter. Simple as that. Overall, the sans-'tude atmosphere is by far the most appealing and their slogan says it all: Grab a beer and chill. Y'all, just check it out! You won't be disappointed.

This seriously looks like the greatest place ever. Can’t wait until the next time I’m in Delray.
