After a one week trial on match.com, these two shared a bottle of wine over a laughter-filled dinner and canceled their accounts immediately after. The two are natives to Ohio and New Jersey, but the warm shores of Sarasota pulled them south for their wedding day. Hunter Ryan Photo found every ounce of gorgeous beach light and captured this fun, beautiful and simple wedding with perfection.
Kadie and her family vacationed to Siesta Key her whole life and it's her favorite place in the world. Brian was asked to join them for Spring Break in 2013 and he took the next opportunity he had to ask her father for permission to marry Kadie. Brian's version is pretty adorable: With a firm handshake and some words of wisdom, my offer was accepted and it was off to the jeweler with my mom. We had a great time picking out the ring at a little jeweler in Philadelphia.
“If buying an engagement ring isn't stressful enough, think about traveling with it through an airport. I checked it every fifteen minutes, ensuring its presence in my carry on. Safe, sound and Florida bound!”
I couldn't have the ring out of my possession and onto Kadie's left hand fast enough. We spent the day on the beach and the clouds started rolling in. We all went up to the condo to escape the ominous sky, clean up, and start happy hour. Kadie's parents were in on my plans, so this was my opportunity to shine. Queue hypertension.
I asked Kadie to go on a walk on the beach, which was a ridiculous request with the sight of the sky. I changed and put the ring in my pocket, then poured a beer to calm my nerves. With my heart racing, right hand in the pocket, cold beer in the left, and a terrible storm looming, we took to the sand. About twenty steps in, Kadie gave me a hug and felt my heart beating like a bass drum at a Kiss concert. Looking at me worried, I 'accidentally' dropped my beer in the sand. I picked it up and stayed down on one knee in the floury sand and ask her to spend the rest of her life with me. Don't ask me what I said or what language it was in, but she said 'yes' and we embraced and ran like hell as the rain began to come down. We hugged, cried, kissed, jumped, and starting calling everyone we know.
The very next day, Kadie called the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota to book their wedding. "My favorite part of the Beach Club is the Sunset Terrace. It is so magically romantic. I envisioned the amazing view, soft breeze, and all my favorite people in the world celebrating our marriage! It seemed to be a perfect fit. We wanted everything to feel soft and romantic. I absolutely loved all the blush, ivory, and gold shades. We decided on a color palette then worked with Kristen at Poeme in Cincinnati, Ohio. She helped us put my vision into a beach-chic, romantic, and gorgeous stationery package. When I was shopping for wedding items, it was the perfect place to start."
With the help of our wedding planner, Nicole of NK Weddings, we were able to capture all my wedding dreams! I loved working with Tiff and Cody. We loved getting to know them and they made us feel so comfortable! Brian and I wish we lived closer so that we could hang out with them! We have so many special moments captured forever and are so thankful! We worked with the Ritz-Carlton chef to put a Floridian flare on our menu. Brian and I both love seafood! All of our cocktail hour dishes were seafood including tuna tartare, crab, lobster, and shrimp. We wanted to make sure our food fit the destination!
Brian and I's favorite part of our wedding is when we escaped from the reception and took our sunset pictures. It was so romantic and special to be able to spend some quality time together on our big day. I loved being able to walk through the sand in my dream gown holding the hand of new hubby! All of our biggest life moments have been shared on a Sarasota beach. The sunset pictures turned out to be my favorite pictures, as well!
What a perfectly sweet beach wedding. Cheers, you two!
