I have a slight crush on backyard celebrations and Brooke and Chris' day is a lovely example of why. The intimacy is unmatched; everyone becomes family and there's this level of comfort even with the formal attire. Kate's Captures Photography also found that balance between formal wedding portraits and cozy candids. Love!
A few years back, Brooke's parents were hosting an engagement party for a friend of hers and Chris happened to be a friend of the groom. Chris had just moved back from some time in Memphis and ever since that night in her family's backyard, he and Brooke have been inseparable. In seems perfectly fitting that these two decided to wed in a different backyard, at Palazzo Del Sol.
Chris' proposal came just one day before Brooke's birthday and it included a commitment to her and her puggle, Cullen. She had always teased that Cullen was like her child and would require an official adoption, once the time came. Since Chris is an attorney, he drafted up an official adoption document, secured it with a ring and strung it around Cullen's neck. Safe to say, Brooke and Cullen had no problem signing on the dotted line!
One of the best things about hosting a wedding at a venue like this is being present from start to finish. As Brooke tells us, "We chose the Palazzo Del Sol because I loved the idea of my family staying there before and after the wedding. It was amazing checking into the house and watching it transform into the wedding of my dreams when the tent, flowers, band and tables showed up. Most people say they don't remember much of their special day and I can honestly say I remember it all and couldn't have imagined it any better than it was."
I think it's so sweet that Brooke's favorite moments of the day include the two most important men in her life: It is very hard to pick just one favorite memories of the day! It's a toss up between the last few moments with my dad before we walked down the aisle or the look on Chris' face when he first saw me. We chose not to see each other before the ceremony.
Our vision for the wedding was rustic and classic and our colors were white, grey and all varying shades of coral. We went with white table linens, a mix of round and wooden farm tables, moss covered letters and lanterns with candles. My favorite DIY project was the handmade wooden wedding sign my dad made us with our names and wedding date on it to go out front of the house. The reception could not have been more Chris and I! Our first dance was to "Maker Said Taker" by Alabama, we both enjoyed champagne and cocktails, and danced the night away to the best band ever, Trotline.
I could not have been happier with any of my wedding vendors. They were all amazing people to work with. Kate, our photographer, was beyond amazing. I found her online, had never met her and never once felt like she wasn't going to do the most amazing job. By the end of the night I felt as if we were friends and that was a wonderful feeling to have with your photographer who is capturing one of the most important days of your life. Jeff at HM Tents was beyond fabulous, as well. Anything I needed he was one step ahead of me. My parents and I received compliments all night regarding how wonderful the food was from Chef Todd at Blue Mountain Catering. Chief Hedi at Bake My Day did an amazing job with our cake. And I certainly cannot forget Jess at Fishers Flowers. Without her help and wonderful flowers my ideas would not have come out looking like I wanted them to. They also designed an amazing flower piece for my hair that I felt made my whole dress. Finally, I could not have done it without my friend and day of wedding coordinator, Holli Kenney.
We love hearing how much our brides and grooms love their fab wedding vendors! Congrats, you two!
