We're continuing our week full of love today with Carrie and Carlo's engagement session that took place at an abandoned building in the middle of the woods. Leave it to the talent behind Vitalic Photo to find beauty and the perfect backdrop for today's sweethearts tale!
Carrie was roommates with Carlo's sister, so by the time they started dating all of the meet-the-family business was over. In their fourth year as a couple, after a girl's weekend getaway, on a normal Wednesday night, Carlo finally proposed. I'll let Carrie take it from here: "We were sitting on the couch and he unexpectedly got down on one knee and proposed! I was shocked! I said YES!! I cried. a) Because I was so happy and the ring is gorgeous. And b) It dawned on me I was looking rough in my sweatpants and tee. He assured me that I was always beautiful. He is definitely a keeper. Now, looking back, I laugh at the few nights I thought a proposal was coming. I would get all dressed up and cute then by night's end I was texting my closest girlfriends to let them know that 'the eagle did not land!' Carlo knew that if he planned something special that I would know what was coming. He was right!"
Like a lot of brides, planning a wedding can become overwhelming, especially with work and life's normal demands. Carrie is no different, but she found out the best wedding planner was closer than she thought. "I have a pretty demanding job that requires a lot of travel and didn't want any additional stress with the wedding. Luckily, my fiancé offered to help out with anything he could. I took him up on his offer and he has proved to be very good at getting things done! While he isn't interested in the flowers or decorations, he did line up our hotel room blocks, set up appointments with our vendors, dropped off payments and is now working on finalizing our rehearsal dinner! He would probably never admit it, but I think he likes being so involved." Carlo seems like such a sweetheart!
Carrie and Carlo will be getting hitched in Vero Beach, their hometown. Along with Carlo, Carrie's mother has been a big help with collecting mercury glass pieces to fill with white flowers or candles. Pinterest is a big inspiration tool for their wedding and we're sure it will turn out beautifully. We cannot wait to see photos! Cheers to a beautiful engagement and a wonderful wedding day-to-come!
Psst! I am sort of obsessed with Carrie's adorable sequined-heart sweater paired with her flannel shirt. That said, come back tomorrow for a Carrie-inspired DIY Valentine that's just perfect for your beau!
