We always gush about how good our signature cocktails are, but believe us on this one: it's amazing. As in, knock-your-socks-off, oh-my amazing! This sparkling, glamourously pink/purple hued beauty is the perfect "hers" signature sip for a holiday season wedding, and is sure to become our go-to bridal shower cocktail.
We started with a base of puréed grapes, and made two different variations on the theme - one a sparkling wine-based drink that is perfectly at home in a champagne glass (and is New Year's Eve perfection). The other is a less-sweet vodka cocktail with soda and ginger ale added for sparkle.
In both, the fresh grape flavor is bright and punchy, and the honey and lemon add natural sweetness and just the right amount of bright contrast... truly delish! You could come up with your own version using both the grape vodka and the sparkling rose - just play around and see what you like best.
Grape Sparklers - Two Ways
(Inspired by this recipe from EatingWell)
4 cups seedless red grapes
2 Tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 Tbsp quality honey
For the sparkling wine cocktail:
2 cups rosé champagne (or prosecco, etc.)
For the vodka cocktail:
12 additional whole grapes, for garnish 3/4 cup grape-flavored vodka (we used Absolut Grapevine)
1 cup club soda
1 cup ginger ale
Purée the grapes in a blender, then strain through a fine mesh strainer into a small pitcher or medium bowl - make sure to press down on the solids to get as much grape juice goodness as possible! Add the lemon juice and honey to the juice and stir until the honey is dissolved.
For the sparkling wine version, split the juice mixture between four champagne glasses and top each with the rose champagne. For added festiveness, garnish with a sequin swizzle stick!
For the vodka cocktail, add club soda and ginger ale to the pitcher and stir. Fill four collins or highball glasses with ice, and divide the mix evenly among them. Add a few whole grapes for garnish.
Makes four drinks. Yum, indeed! Enjoy, and Happy Holidays.
