We have a fresh treat for y'all today! Kelly Fowler of Just Save The Date sent us Nick and Samantha's wedding to feast our eyes on all the homemade goodness, seersucker and sunshine. Peach Blossom Photography was there to capture every laugh and detail from this fun Key West soirée!
Located in their hometown, the Harry S. Truman Little White House was a perfect choice for their wedding venue. It's charming, has clean lines, and feels natural with all the beautiful native foliage. Exactly what these two wanted. Samantha and Nick made it almost through high school before realizing they lived just five houses away from one another. Needless to say visiting from their home in Gainesville, Florida (Go Gators!) is breezy according to our bride.
According to Samantha, Nick and I are very classic in terms of style so we always knew we wanted a "clean" look with lots of white and navy. Also, we knew we could play off of the natural tropical green of the venue by adding in pops of yellow in the floral arrangements. We used textures like seersucker, burlap, and damask that helped us great a simple nautical look.
The men in Nick's family have always been big sailors. About a year before he proposed, his father built a small sailboat in their garage. That whole year Nick was so excited for us to be first ones to put her on the water. So, while we were home for Thanksgiving in 2011, the boat was ready for her first voyage. Out on the water just the two of us, Nick was unusually insistent that I 'not touch a line' and instead sit back and get some sun. About twenty minutes into our sail, he crouched into the hull of the boat and popped up one knee. I was completely shocked! I would have never guessed he'd be brave enough to take the ring out on open water while manning the boat alone. As the tears began to flow and he slipped the ring on my finger, he confidently and playfully reminded me that I 'was marrying an excellent sailor'...he still makes me melt!
That exact sailboat was used as an amazing prop for their wedding reception. It was filled with ice and guests enjoyed oysters on the half shell with homemade "Sweet Heat" hot sauce, yum!
As a craft beer lover, I have to give Nick and Samantha major props here. They served a rare and delicious IPA called "Stone Ruination" at their reception!
Kelly was able to coordinate all of the fabulous personal touches that make this wedding so fun. In particular, I love the custom Gator & seashell koozies, but guests had a number of favors to choose from: cigars with matches, hot sauce, custom pint glasses and more! They danced to live music under the gorgeous white tent, ate and drank until their hearts' content, and celebrated the love of these two high school sweethearts. Samantha still feels so lucky: Our day would not have happened had it not been for our wonderful day-of coordinator, Kelly, and our amazing families. My Aunt did all the floral arrangements, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles peeled shrimp and labeled hundreds of water bottles. They manually set-up all of my ridiculous personal touches. Again, Nick and I could not be more blessed!
This wedding is just so fun! Good food and drink, a beautiful location, some smooth rhythms, that's all you need! Congratulations to Samantha and Nick on such a fabulous day. We wish you many years of happiness through clear skies and squalls as one another's anchor and sail!
