Here is one couple that gets how incredible the Florida Keys can be. Maritza and Matt live it up in their island paradise by exploring the colorful life surrounding them. They followed suit with a funky engagement session with Alan Phillip Photography aboard a pirate ship and toasted to their next adventure: marriage!
These two met while studying at Florida State University and quickly became inseparable best friends. True to the struggling college student stigma, their first date included a homemade dinner that they ate while sitting on the floor next to his coffee table. As Maritza tells us, "I remember him cooking the best steak I'd ever had, but he had no furniture, no microwave, no dishwasher at the time. None of it mattered though because we were just happy to be in each others company and enjoying a great meal together."
Matt and I are so blessed to live in Key Largo. We moved here after college and love being part of this wonderful community. I work at the private Ocean Reef Club as an accountant and Matt owns the Everglades Alligator Farm. He proposed to me on our boat accompanied by our dog and a bottle of wine just as the sun was setting. I said, 'life can’t get better than this' and he replied, 'yes it can' then proposed on one knee. We are so lucky to have each other in our lives.
For Matt's birthday, I planned on taking him for a sunset cruise on the 52 foot Pirates Choice sailboat. I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to bring Alan on board while we experience one of our favorite things to do in Key Largo. Being on the ocean witnessing a famous Keys sunset is something we never get tired of viewing. We live in a beautiful place.
Since the day we met we've shared hobbies such as diving, biking, cooking, and traveling. Our two biggest trips have been to Argentina and Italy. We've hiked at the foot of the Andes and drank wine in Mendoza. Last summer, the highlight of our Italian trip was boating around Capri and biking through the Tuscan hills. We love the outdoors, but especially the ocean! I look forward to sharing many more adventures with Matt! Life can't get better than this.
Cheers to you two!
