Florida has the most gorgeous parks, don't you think? Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is an oasis of preserved tropical hammocks just steps from the buzz of Ft. Lauderdale Beach. Not surprisingly, it's also a favorite spot for nature-loving couples to take their engagement photos - just like this beautiful ballerina and her husband-to-be, captured by Rubber Boots Photography.
Nick, born in Wisconsin and raised in Naples, and Patricia, born in Cuba and raised in Miami, met while both were attending UM. They shared classrooms for several semesters before, one day, Nick sat down next to her, and their "never ending conversation began." They became friends, then best friends, then fell madly in love.
“ Being able to openly speak your mind with someone without being afraid of sounding completely insane and ridiculous is quite incredible. After three years we still talk for hours and play around with each other like we were five years old. ”
Patricia has been a ballerina since she was a little girl, and now owns two dance studios in Miami. A self-proclaimed workaholic, she feels blessed to have found a partner that supports her in all her dreams and helps her appreciate the important things in life: "the most loving, caring, supportive, and understanding man in the world."
Nick proposed on Christmas Eve of 2013. Says Patricia, "My cuban family has the tradition of opening presents before dinner is served, so we gathered around the Christmas tree filled with gifts and began to give each other presents. After everyone had opened their presents and we had cleaned the room, Nick asked my entire family to regroup back because there was one last gift to be given. It was a medium size box with a note, that held another box with a note inside, and another inside of that one... until the last note read 'Will you marry me?' Of course I said 'yes!!!!!!!!'"
They'll be tying the knot next March at The Cooper Estate, in an intimate celebration surrounded by just their closest family and friends. Congratulations, guys!
