As soon as Desiree started sharing some of the details of the June wedding she was planning with the gorgeous Katie and Nick, I just knew we'd want to snap it up. And when I got my hands on the beautiful photos by The Big Day, it was confirmed... I just couldn't wait to share it with you!
Katie and Nick said "I do" at the First Baptist Church of Lake Worth, then treated their guests to a lovely outdoor affair at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach. With doughnut favors, lawn games, and lovely DIY chevron details, it's the kind of pretty, pretty day that will make you wish to be there and enjoy.
This photo of the groom and his boys... yup, it's epic. And I love Nick's bowtie!
I also love the fun story of how Nick and Katie met, as told by the stunning bride:
Nick and I met in an ultra classy line dancing bar called Renegades in West Palm Beach, FL. If you've been there, you know I'm exaggerating! We were doing some flirting on the dance floor and after about an hour he came up to me and just got right to business - he asked, "Do you have a boyfriend?". In my version of our first meeting he doesn't even introduce himself until after he's asked me this, but if you ask him, he will say that he definitely introduced himself first. I actually did have a boyfriend at the time and I told him that and like the gentleman that he is, he said it was nice to meet me and walked away. Leaving me saying to myself, "Man he gave up easy!". Then at the end of the night I was leaving the parking lot and there was a truck in front of me pulling out of the lot and I noticed Nick jump out of his truck and come up to my window and he said, "If I don't get your number I will regret it". I couldn't resist his charm so I gave in and gave him my number and told him he could have it, but he couldn't call me. Two minutes later he called me and the rest is history!
We really do make each other better, that's totally cliche - I know, but it really is the truth. I am more of a social butterfly and he's a little more on the shy side. Our personalities compliment each other well and we one hundred percent have the same humor, which goes a long way in our household. I knew my husband would have to be someone who would make me laugh and not a day goes by that he doesn't crack me up. To quote one of my favorite movies (Something Borrowed) "He makes me heavier, and I make him lighter somehow".
Katie and Nick were completely hands-on for the wedding, collecting all of the milk glass vases and mason jars, building the cornhole boards, and creating the table numbers and burlap pennant banners. Katie also made her hair flower and customized her bridesmaids' hangers. Desiree added her expertise with creating the programs, adding the chevron pattern to the burlap table runners, and creating the beautiful centerpieces and decorative floral arrangements throughout the day.
Says Katie: It was all a labor of love. Our wedding was so amazing, it came out just like I envisioned. I had so much fun planning our wedding and I really didn't stress until the month of the wedding. I had seven months to plan and I really don't think I would change anything that I ended up doing. I think I owe that to being organized and having my amazing wedding planner Desiree to help me along the way. We stayed true to who we are and really had a wedding that was very "us".
A couple things that were very near and dear to my heart were that we used my grandmothers table linens and candle holders for our unity candle (she is no longer with us), and I wore my mother's veil that I had shortened. It's amazing that something she wore 39 years ago was still in style enough for me to want to wear it!
And finally, we asked Katie to share their favorite moments of the day: I really loved seeing Nick's face for the first time walking down the isle. It's a memory I will cherish forever. I also loved that fact that we took communion together for the first time as man and wife in front of all our closest friends and family. One of our favorite parts of our wedding was riding on the Trolley with our wedding party. It was so much fun and we got to enjoy all being together before we had to go join the 100 guests we had. We really enjoyed every second of our wedding!
Congrats, Katie and Nick! And big thanks to Desiree and The Big Day for sharing this little beauty with us.
