Becca and I are in the Keys this week for our second Vendor get-together, some vendor guide research, and a little R&R, too... so the timing on today's gorgeous wedding is just too perfect! Lesley and Kris were married last November at Bahia Honda State Park on Big Pine Key, then took the party on down to Key West for dinner at the Roof Top Cafe and dancing at the Hog's Breath Saloon. Brittany Anderson Photography was there to capture every last lovely detail of this intimate affair, and we're excited to share it with you!
Lesley, from California, and Kris, from Tampa, met in Florida after being introduced to each other by Lesley's brother. They were young when they met; although they quickly became best friends and Kris proposed after 2 years (at sunset looking out over a cliff in Laguna Beach!), they chose not to rush the wedding and waited another 5 years to tie the knot. Says Lesley, "We're best friends still after 7 years... in every sense of the word. We love to explore new places and things together (we love the outdoors, beach, etc.), and we balance each other out... I'm hyper and he's got the patience for it! We've been together through good and bad times and really grew together!"
The couple married at sunset on an old bridge that stretches out over the water - they had visited the park the year before and Lesley instantly knew she wanted to get married on the bridge. The theme was Bohemian-Chic, with earthy colors of green, white and black, and accents of burlap and orchids. The bridesmaids wore green feather earrings, and lanterns lined the aisle; a musician played Somewhere Over the Rainbow on a ukulele as the bride and groom walked down. And for their first dance, they started with I Wanna Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler and the remixed it with Tootsie Roll - how fun is that?
Lesley told us about the most memorable moments of the day for her and Kris: Writing our own vows to each other, walking on bridge seeing each other for first time with my dad, getting ready with my friends and family because my family is all over the US, Cali, Maryland, Ohio, NC, Iowa - was so nice to have them all close, and Chewy our dog... it was so small and intimate loved that about our wedding! It was a day we couldn't wait for and saved our own money to get married and was so perfect!
Congrats you two - thank you for sharing your story with us! And big thanks to Brittany Anderson for her gorgeous work.
